The Colossal Cave Mountain Park used to sit on the original Old Spanish Trail Auto Route until Interstate 10 was built and redirected traffic away from the cave. To this day Colossal Cave is still an attraction though, visitors just have to put more effort into getting there. Along with the cave, there is trails to be enjoyed on foot or bike.

Colossal Cave main building and walkways were built by the Civilian Conservation Corp and is also listed on the U.S. National Register Historic Places.
