A military cemetery from the First World War, it is very well maintained like all the others in the region. It is important to discover these places of memory. Let us never forget these young people coming to die with us for our freedom.

"The other 3 are Le Cateau Communal Cemetery, Quietiste Military Cemetery and Highland Cemetery Le Cateau.

The Cateau was the scene of a battle fought by the 2nd British Corps on August 26, 1914 against the German forces. After the retreat of the Allied armies, the city remained in the hands of the Germans until October 1918, when it was taken over by the 5th Connaught Rangers.

During the war, Le Cateau was an important hospital center. The military cemetery was originally built by the Germans in February 1916 with separate parts for the Commonwealth and the German dead."
