Ballaugh is a village in the rural parish of the same name situated in the northwest of the Island. The Manx Gaelic name, Balley my Loghey, translates into English as the ‘town of the lake’. It is the only village in the parish.
Ballaugh grew up around the ford of the Ballaugh Glen stream. Today the Village is situated on the TT Course (A3) Castletown to Ramsey Road and a hump-backed bridge has replaced the ford. The bridge is a popular spectator spot for the TT and the Classic TT races.
