Alabaster Caverns hosts the largest gypsum cave open to the public in the world. Five types of alabaster are found here, including the very rare "black" alabaster, found only in three places in the world. The cave is also home to five species of bats. Guided tours of the caverns leave the Visitors Center every hour on the hour. Additional activities include camping, recreational activities, and (with the appropriate permit) wild caving.

Due to a rockslide, the tour no longer enters at this entrance (the waypoint coordinates) but will take you to the (former) exit for an in-and-back stroll through the caverns. The entrance is a short walk from the visitors center, but can only be viewed from a distance as it is closed to the public at this time. The exit (which is also a natural cave entrance) is about a half-mile (round trip) hike from the Visitors Center; they take you there by tram or van. Hoe Handle Cave (yet another natural cave here, which is open to wild caving with the appropriate permit) is also about a quarter of a mile from the Visitors Center.
