The Wageningen artist Adri de Waard made this realistic image of a specific Bennekom farmer waiting for the steam tram. The image is completed by a stop post and the suggestion of the track.

The bronze statue recalls the time when the steam tram ran. From 1882 there was a connection between Ede and Wageningen with a stop in Bennekom. The tram was pulled by the locomotive "Bello". In the 1930s, the steam tram disappeared and a bus service took its place.
In 1993 this statue was placed near the place where the tram stop used to be. It is a gift from the Rotary Club Bennekom.
