This sculpture, entitled "Avilés", aims to be the visual reference of the town. It is located in the recently remodeled Paseo de la Ría, and was made in 2005 by the sculptor Benjamín Menéndez.
It is a modern sculpture composed of three cones placed with different inclinations and made of corten steel. It is striking for its large wingspan: It measures 30 meters high and weighs more than 60 tons.
