The north-eastern corner of the Kingdom of Fife on the east coast of Scotland is mostly comprised of Tentsmuir Forest, a vast area of woodland stretching for four miles from north to south, and two miles from west to east, bounded to the north and east by a large area of beach. The whole area is now the Tentsmuir National Nature Reserve, criss-crossed by walking and cycling trails, including the Fife Coastal Path which runs along the eastern and northern edges.
Tentsmuir Point at the north-east tip at the point where the Firth of Tay reaches the North Sea is where this 'You Are Here' can be found around the point near to where the coastal path turns westwards after heading north for three miles from the car park at Kinshaldy. The sign here on the edge of the sands gives information on the area, including plantlife and wildlife, including the seals that frequent the sands.
Tentsmuir Point is most remote place within the nature reserve and lies two and a half miles east of the town of Tayport, a similar distance north-east of the car park at Morton Lochs, and three miles north the large car park at Kinshaldy (fee charged).
