A sculpture of a British soldier with rifle inverted on a ledge on the Lezayre Parish War Memorial in Churchtown.

The sculpture which is about 4ft high shows the soldier in the uniform worn during WW1 wearing a 'tin hat' with his rifle inverted and his head bowed.

The sculpture and memorial can be found at the junction of Lezayre Road (A3) and Churchtown Road (B17) in Lezayre. It is in memory of the men of the Parish who lost their lives in World War I & II.

The memorial was designed by Ewart Crelin (1887-1950) and was made by Mr Edward Chistian J.P. C.T.C sculptor of Ramsey, from red sandstone in the form of a cross on an octangular pillar, mounted on octangular red sandstone bases. The sandstone was sourced from the Bankend Quarries in Cumbria.

Affixed to the bases are white marble plaques which record the names of the men lost and the dedications.
