Teatro Aveirense
"The Teatro Aveirense was inaugurated on March 5, 1881, on an occasion marked by the presence of the Teatro D. Maria II company. From then onwards, the cultural activity was intense and diversified, with the opening of cinematographic sessions in 1912, an area with a strong presence in the history of space ever since.
Having obtained in 2002 the classification of Property of Public Interest, Teatro Aveirense had several improvement interventions, the first of these in 1919, by the hand of Engineer Von Haff. Another one followed between 1947 and 1949, much deeper, this time by the architect Ernesto Camilo Korrodi. The last one took place between 2000 and 2003, when Teatro Aveirense was transferred to the Municipality of Aveiro, in a work signed by the architect João Carreira, which reformulated the space, providing it with the necessary conditions for a good reception of artists and public .
It reopened on October 23, 2003, giving the city a municipal space with excellent technical conditions and a professional staff, with skills in the areas of the performing arts. Until 2016 this equipment was managed by the municipal public company TEMA - Teatro Municipal de Aveiro."
