Gregory Peck’s long and versatile acting career spanned five decades. Born in California, his desire to act led him to New York City where he debuted on Broadway in 1942. But it wasn’t long before he was back in California, making films and cast in leading roles right off the bat. Over the next 45+ years, Gregory Peck starred in over 70 motion pictures.

Some of his most notable films were ‘The Keys to the Kingdom’ (1944), Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Spellbound,’ ‘Roman Holiday’ with Audrey Hepburn, ‘Twelve O’Clock High,’ ‘The Guns of Navarone,’ ‘Cape Fear,’ both the original and 1991 remake and ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ for which he won an Academy Award for best actor.

Gregory Peck died in 2003 at the age of 87. He was interred in the mausoleum of the recently built Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The cathedral itself is a wonder of post-modern deconstructivist architecture. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles moved into the new building because the former Cathedral of Saint Vibiana, ravaged by earthquakes, had been condemned by the city in 1995. The mausoleum is located in the lowest level of the church.
