Zu Beginn des Mühlendorfes befindet sich die namensgebende Mühle, die ebenfalls den Infopoint und eine Ausstellung zum Thema „Biodiversität im Bach“ beherbergt. Weitere Einblicke in das Leben unter Wasser bietet das Fischbruthaus. Hier können Besucher das „In-Situ“ – Schutzprojekt erleben, das direkt im natürlichen Verbreitungsgebiet der gefährdeten Fischarten angelegt ist. Vom Laich bis hin zum Jungfisch kann die Entwicklung der Tiere verfolgt werden. Unweit vom Fischbruthaus entfernt, befinden sich die Stallungen für zahlreiche Haustierarten wie die neuseeländische Schweinerasse Kunekune, Murnau-Werdenfelser Rinder, Shetland-Ponys oder auch Ungarische Lockengänse. Neugierige Besucher können hier die Entwicklung vom Ei zum Küken in den Brutvitrinen verfolgen und erfahren, welche Rolle der Mensch im Umgang mit natürlichen Ressourcen spielt. Im Mühlendorf wird auf spielerische Weise gezeigt, wie jeder Einzelne zum Erhalt der globalen Biodiversität beitragen kann. „Nach der ersten Bauphase ist auf der Fläche des alten Kindertierparks wirklich ein Hotspot der Biodiversität entstanden, der sich sehen lassen kann“, so Tierpark-Direktor Rasem Baban. Dabei gibt es im Mühlendorf nicht nur vieles zum Sehen, sondern auch zum Schmecken, Riechen und Fühlen. Im Biergarten können bayrische Spezialitäten gekostet werden und der Dorfladen lädt zum Stöbern ein. Durch die Holz-Bauten, bäuerliche Dekoration und einen Dorfbrunnen entsteht ein gemütliches Ambiente, wo man gerne verweilt bevor es frisch gestärkt weiter zur Tierparkschule, dem Herzstück des Tierparks, geht. Die Tierparkschule ist in der zweiten Bauphase entstanden und bildet einen außerschulischen Lernort mit vier Klassenzimmern für Schülerinnen und Schüler. Im Erdgeschoss schließt ein Ziegenstall direkt an das Klassenzimmer an, was im Raum ein lebendigen Lernerlebnis ermöglicht. Hier befinden sich außerdem drei Lehrerzimmer und das Foyer. Im Obergeschoss sind drei weitere Klassenzimmer entstanden, die durch mobile Trennwände leicht in einen großen Saal mit Platz für bis zu 200 Menschen verwandelt werden können. Der perfekte Ort, um Veranstaltungen im Tierpark zu realisieren. Ein weiteres Highlight der Tierparkschule ist der angebaute Ziegenstall, der nicht nur an eines der Klassenzimmer anschließt, sondern auch ein Streichelgehege für die kleinen Besucher bereithält. Darüber hinaus sind im zweiten Bauteil Stallungen für Dahomey-Zwergrinder und Damaraund Girgentanaziegen, ein Imkerwagen mit Bienenstöcken und eine Zauneidechsen-Anlage hinzugekommen. Auch die Edukation wurde weiter ausgebaut und um das Thema „Insekten und heimische Biodiversität“ sowie um Wissenswertes zu Wild- und Honigbienen ergänzt.
