"One of the most important architectural jewels of medieval Avilés and Asturias, specifically from the 14th century, a period of transition from Romanesque to Gothic, in which new constructive solutions were explored.
The Las Alas family, powerful Avilés medieval merchants, wanted to build a funerary chapel to bury their loved ones there. He did it in the cemetery of the medieval citadel, located on the left side of the then parish of San Nicolás de Bari (today Church of the Franciscan Fathers).
It is a small and sober building, with a square plan, of truly remarkable architectural beauty. Façade of a plant where the noble coat of arms of the family stand out and a beautiful doorway, in a proto-Gothic style, adorned with bearded faces in some cases and winged faces in others."
