During an evening service in 1924, Marie Gleditsch saw a figure in a monk's cowl walking across one of the audience. The monk stood behind the priest. A bloody cut could be seen on the monk's neck.
The newspaper "Aftensposten" wrote about the ghost monk in 1930, when several people had seen him. Among other things, they had also seen how he tried to strangle the priest.
In 1966, Master Jon Medbøe and two students spent a night in Nidaros Cathedral. They heard both trailing steps and mesmerizing singing that they could date to the year 1200. At the same time, there was a great media debate about many people's experiences of the monk in the Cathedral. The church leadership has refused to confirm the many experiences, and has said no to further investigations.
