In Moore Haven, Florida is the Caloosahatchee Canal portion of the Cross-State Canal of the Okeechobee Intracoastal Waterway. A swing bridge is at this crossing and must be manually opened and closed. This permits train spotters an opportunity to see the trains up close using the open grassy area at the end of Railroad Avenue. You are required to not get closer than 25 feet from the rail track right of way. A siding area is located 1/2 mile west of this location.

This train spotting area is excellent due to the time involved with opening the bridge for train traffic. It is utilized daily Monday - Friday. During the sugarcane harvesting season (October - May) it is also used on weekends. The railroads that use this location are the South Central Florida Express (SCXF), the South Central Florida Railroad (SCFE) and the U.S. Sugar Corporation (USSC).

You can drive out to the level field south of the tracks in cars and other vehicles. Trains stopped here usually wait approximately 10 minutes to cross the bridge giving ample time for photographs. A picnic area with covered picnic table is several hundred feet south of this spot and gives excellent photo opportunities of the trains as they cross the swing bridge and a concrete trestle.
