In Sirmione, near the lake Garda, is a beautiful multicoulored compass rose painted on a building. It not only shows the cardinal directions (north, south, east and west), but 16 different directions. The cardinal directions are black and white. The four intercardinal directions are red and black. And the eight additional directions between them are blue and black.
It also shows eleven winds on lake Garda (Pelèr, Gardesana, Montis, Visentina, Vinessa, Ora, Toscà, Anden, Boaren, Fasanella and Balì) on the outer ring and the eight general winds (Tramontana, Grecale, Levante, Scirocco, Mezzogiorno, Libeccio, Ponente and Maestrale) on the inner ring.
