Postupne zlikvidoval veškerou opozici a konfiskacemi znásobil rodový majetek. V roce 1624 získal titul dedicného knížete.

=========================================================

František Serafinský of Ditrichštejn (1570-1636) is the most famous representative of the family, a cardinal and bishop of Olomouc. He was educated by the Jesuits and soon embarked on a brilliant career. At the age of twenty-one he became a canon of Olomouc and eight years later bishop and cardinal. From 1611 he was the owner of the Mikulov estate. Because of his intensive recatholization activities in Moravia, he was in disputes with representatives of the Estates. After their defeat on the White Mountain in November 1620, he was able to fully implement his policy not only on his estate, but also as a provincial administrator. He gradually eliminated all opposition and multiplied the family property by confiscations. In 1624 he was given the title of hereditary prince.
