Libešice is a municipality and village in Louny District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. The first written reference of Libešice is from the year 1057. In Libešice today you can visit many interesting monuments. Among them are the Jesuit residence, the St. Francis Xaver Chapel and the church of Assumption of the Virgin Mary from the year 1352. This parish church was the destination of pilgrims from a wide region around. The church was Utraquist in the time of the Hussites, later Lutheran and from 1622 Catholic. Around the church is an enclosing wall, which sheltered the former graveyard. On the southern steps is a baroque gate with a stone frame which is dated 1691.
The church wall is connected to the wall of the chateau garden. Both walls are decorated with a set of Baroque sculptures. Other statues are located along the road opposite the church.

The Libešice Chateau was four-winged with four corner towers and a chapel. Later, in 1620, it was sacked by the Emperor's soldiers. In 1651–1656 Jesuits moved here from Úštek, and partially repaired the chateau in the baroque style, however after 1746 the unmaintained chateau areas were demolished. The old Libešice Jesuit residence, renaissance at the core with some baroque repairs, did not meet their new requirements and so in 1738 the Jesuits started working on a new building, which would meet their needs and represent their order. The author of this building was Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.
