This sculpture is a limestone replica of a car that housed the Mighty Indy Novi, which is a dual overhead cam supercharged V8 engine used race the Indianapolis 500 from 1941-1966. The sound the engine made was a staple of races and racegoers. This piece specifically reproduced Duke Nalon's #54 which crashed on lap 24 of the 1949 Indianapolis 500.
