The village of Daviot lies four miles to the north of the town of Inverurie and twenty miles north-west of the city of Aberdeen in north-east Scotland. The parish church is in the centre of the village and at the entrance on the west side, facing the road, is the parish war memorial, unveiled in 1920.
It is around twelve feet tall and is a granite tapering, rectangular obelisk on a shallow two-step plinth, surmounted by small round-ended Latin cross. The west face contains the inscription, plus nine names from WWI, with the north face containing six names added from WWII. The inscription on the west face reads as follows:
'IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE FROM DAVIOT PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR. 1914-1918-
