Tribute to Jean Nicoli and the fighters who fell at his side
The thunder and the rain did not prevent the Association of Former Resistance Fighters and Friends of the Resistance (ANACR) of Haute-Corse from paying, as usual, a vibrant tribute to Jean Nicoli, yesterday afternoon.
An emblematic figure of the Resistance and responsible for Corsican armaments, he is still today "an example of courage for all citizens", said Sixte Ugolini, president of the ANACR 2B.
An exemplary commitment
The ceremony took place, as every year, at 6 p.m. precisely in front of the commemorative plaque of the high school in Bastia that bears his name.
The representatives of the constituted bodies laid a wreath in memory of the resistant. This year, "the presence in Bastia of a minister of the Republic deprived us of the usual presence of the prefect of Haute-Corse", explained Sixte Ugolini during his speech.
At the same time, he was delighted to be able to welcome for the first time the presidents of the Assembly of Corsica and the executive of the CTC.
