In 2011 Turku was the European Capital of Culture. Thus the Finnish artists Jani Rättyä and Antti Stöckel had the idea for the Flux Aura event taking place in this context to reverse the size relationship between humans and daisies. The intention behind it was to make people aware of the beauty and the preservation of actually small things.
Thus, the daisy with a normal size of 3cm of flower and 12cm stem has been greatly enlarged by a factor of 200: the artists flower corresponds to an diameter of 6m (~20 feet), the stem is 25m (~82 feet) in length. For the stem 12 pieces of wood were used, which were put together. The white, delicate-looking petals are made of reinforced plastic, the yellow-colored flower head with its details was again carved from wood. It was then set up on a grassy area between the museum sailing ship "Suomen Joutsen" (Swan of Finland) and the naval museum "Forum Marinum".
Originally it was planned to remove the sculpture after the end of the cultural year, but because of its popularity with the population, this sculpture was retained. In 2019 the daisy was extensively restored due to the increased damage.
