This museum houses interactive exhibits exploring the history of Washington State. The building, by Charles Moore and Arthur Andersson, is designed to echo the look of next door neighbor, Union Station, which was once the Western Terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad.

The building is located on Pacific Ave and is within walking distance of the Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Glass, Bridge of Glass, Union Station, University of Washington Tacoma and the Thea Foss Waterway. If you're hungry there are several restaurants and cafe's along Pacific and also inside the museums.

Parking is available on the street, but your best bet is to park in the transit station's parking garage just North of downtown near the Tacoma Dome (free) and take the lightrail (free) into downtown.
