"Raised in memory of Brigadier Cosme Churruca, who died in the Battle of Trafalgar (1805) while at the head of the San Juan Nepomuceno ship. Ferrol was the city where the Department to which the sailor belonged lived. Currently it is installed in the gardens of San Francisco, from where you can see wonderful views of the arsenals and the Ferrol estuary, but its first location was in the Plaza de Armas, crowning a fountain that has now disappeared."
