The Caraffa Palace, in Corsican Casa Caraffa or Palazzu Caraffa, is a building located in the historical centre of Bastia, at the bottom of the rue du Chanoine-Letteron (carrughju Drittu), in the Terra Vechja district.

C'est une maison patricienne ayant appartenu à la famille Bronzini de Caraffa. Elle appartient depuis 2002 à la commune de Bastia.
Historique
La façade de la maison (ou palais) Caraffa est la plus de Bastia. À l'origine il s'agissait d'une maison bourgeoise, construite en 1612 par la famille Petroni. Vers 1680 la maison Petroni fut utilisée comme soubassement d'une importante maison construite pour Anton Bastiano Caraffa, riche notable bastiais.
Le palais est agrandit en 1775 par Giovan Battista de Caraffa, qui était maire de Bastia en 1789.
Un jardin botanique a été aménagé en 1865.
Cédée en 2002 par la famille Bronzini de Caraffa à la municipalité bastiaise, il est prévu qu'elle soit restaurée en 2020.
Description
Entrée du n°4 de la rue du Chanoine-Letteron
Au rez-de-chaussée se trouvaient des boutiques, des caves et une tannerie. Au premier étage logeaient commerçants et employés.
Au troisième niveau sont situés les appartements de réception, spacieux et voûtés. C'est à cet étages que l'on trouve également les balcons maçonnés. Depuis le portail du n°2 on accède directement à cet étage par un grand escalier d'honneur.
La pièce la plus remarquable est un grand salon dont la voûte est peinte en trompe-l'œil. On y trouve également une des plus belles bibliothèques privées de la ville.
On trouve également une chapelle, décorée vers 1770.
Côté rue on trouve plusieurs pièces, dont le salon Wurtenberg, du nom du duc Ludwig von Wurtenberg qui fut l'hôte de la famille en 1741.

It is a patrician house that belonged to the Bronzini de Caraffa family. Since 2002 it has belonged to the commune of Bastia.
History
The façade of the Caraffa house (or palace) is the most beautiful in Bastia. Originally it was a bourgeois house, built in 1612 by the Petroni family. Around 1680 the Petroni house was used as the base of an important house built for Anton Bastiano Caraffa, a wealthy Bastia notable.
The palace was extended in 1775 by Giovan Battista de Caraffa, who was mayor of Bastia in 1789.
A botanical garden was laid out in 1865.
Ceded in 2002 by the Bronzini de Caraffa family to the Bastia municipality, it is scheduled to be restored in 2020.
Description
Entrance to no. 4 rue du Chanoine-Letteron
On the ground floor there were shops, cellars and a tannery. The first floor housed shopkeepers and employees.
On the third floor were the spacious, vaulted reception flats. The masonry balconies are also found on this floor. A grand staircase leads directly from the gateway to No. 2 to this floor.
The most remarkable room is a large salon with a vaulted ceiling painted in trompe l'oeil. It also contains one of the most beautiful private libraries in the city.
There is also a chapel, decorated around 1770.
On the street side there are several rooms, including the Wurtenberg Room, named after Duke Ludwig von Wurtenberg who was a guest of the family in 1741.
