Na Gruagaichean, (The Maidens), is a 3442 feet, 1055 metre high mountain summit in the Mamore Mountains of Scotland between Glen Nevis And Glen Coe. Named after the two summits (main summit and north-west top), it lies above the village of Kinlochleven towards the eastern part of the range. The stony summit area is, like the rest of the range, connected to the neighbouring summits by high ridges.
STEEPNESS: Stalkers paths taking a zig-zag route up the mountainside ease the steepness before a short, sharp pull up tp the summit.
TERRAIN: Stony paths carved out of the hillside and ridges. The summit area is all stones and rocks with little vegetation.
ACCESSIBILITY: The summit lies two miles to the north-east of Kinlochleven and most routes to the summit start from here. A longer route heading over neighbouring summits starts from Glen Nevis to the north-west.
NAVIGATION: The paths help navigation in mist, with one heading to the col with Stob Coire a' Chairn to the west, before heading over the north-west top to the main summit. A slightly longer but easier route heads north-east to the summit of Sgor Eilde Beag, before then heading north-west to the south top of Binnein Mòr, then west to the summit. A ridge runs south from the summit, but ends up pathless down the steep southern flank.
DANGER: The high bealach between the north-west top and main summit is very stony and slippery.
