Named for
John Bane Wright, who served as treasurer and two terms as councilman in Double Oak, this small park is nestled between the Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department and Double Oak Town Hall. There are a few places to park near the corner of Waketon and Kings Roads, and there don't appear to be any prohibitions on parking in the town hall lot. Coordinates are taken from between the park sign and the parking area.
The park covers about a half acre, and it's primarily greenbelt. There are a few benches and some picnic tables, and the pavilion looks to have kitchen facilities for use for small community events. In the past, there have been chili cook-offs, holiday events, observation of National Night Out, and the park has been a stopping/starting point for community parades. Placed by an Eagle Scout, there is a free book exchange over by Town Hall, full of books to read if you're sitting and watching the kids do what they do. There's also an interesting bell in front of the volunteer fire department, and if the station doors are open, the kids can get a look at the trucks.
