Once upon a time the Lauenburg stood here.
At some point in the years the castle fell into disrepair and was even used as a quarry. At the same time, the forest covered with sessile oak and linden trees had spread out on the hilltop. The linden tree chose exactly the entrance to the elongated main castle as a place to grow and has been driving the roots there into the history-steeped underground for centuries.
In 1903 the linden tree was exposed during excavations.
It's a magical place to be!
