Elle a été bâti en 1956 par la Monclair Company Construction Ltd, selon les plans de l'architecte Franco Consiglio dans un secteur développé suite à l'arrivée du tramway. Selon une source, l'église et le presbytère témoignent de la présence de la communauté catholique anglophone dans le nord de l'île de Montréal.
L'église est représentative de la transition entre l'architecture religieuse traditionnelle et moderne au milieu du XXe siècle par sa composition architecturale, sa volumétrie intérieure et ses éléments épurés.
Propriété depuis 2002 des Missionnaires scalabriniens, une ccommunauté religieuse à vocation sociale dont la mission est de venir en aide aux migrants, ce site a conservé à travers les années un usage communautaire et constitue un lieu de rassemblement pour la communauté et de service à la population.
