Built at the end of a cape of which it borders the cliff, the lantern is perched 34 meters above the sea. The building is in the form of a tower half embedded in the gatehouse.

It is state property, its electrification dates from 1965 and was automated in 1993.

Total height: 8.40 m, 36.60 m above sea level. Horizon light with white, green and red sectors with 2 occultations every 6 seconds, produced by a 180 W –24V halogen lamp . Light range: 12 nautical miles. 1881: The light source is a simple kerosene wick lamp. 1911: A sleeve replaces the wick. 1932: The fire becomes blackout. It runs on petroleum. 1940 - 1945: The optics of the fire are removed and the fire transformed into a watchtower by the Germans. 1965: The fire is electrified. Today, the fire is remotely controlled from the Brest Operation and Intervention Center.
