This is the second-most inconvenient and/or ridiculous basketball court I've found to date, not for its location but rather for the playing area's amusing conditions.

This is the second-most inconvenient and/or ridiculous basketball court I've found to date, not for its location but rather for the playing area's conditions.
The good: The post, backboard, rim, and net are all in decent, playable condition. Made from standard galvanized steel, the post stands erect and plumb. Though the white paint has mostly worn away, the south- and sea-facing fan-shaped backboard is solid. About half the red paint has flaked off the rim and the exposed parts sport a uniform coat of rust. The nylon net is weathered but intact.
The weird: Umm...Grass. The pole is in the middle of a grassy field. Though flat, robustly green and mowed, there is no solid playing surface. It is basically a big lawn.
The ridiculous: The "park" is used to park boat trailers. There were eight of them in two lines on either side of the hoop. Two of them stationed so close that the only space available to shoot from was right in front of the backboard.
The inconvenient: Mosquitos. I was snapping photos for about 97 seconds when I first noticed that familiar little sting and itch on my right calf. Then another and another and another. I was swatting and scratching both legs and uncomfortably hightailing it out of there within five minutes of ever-increasing bites. Yeowch!
Other than those minor liabilities, this out standing in its field, single net, extraordinary, outdoor basketball pitch is in an idyllic ocean side hamlet, and surrounded by quaint, heirloom summer cottages and larger, newer rental houses. There are a couple of sandy beaches and a rustic seafood restaurant nearby, too.
