The Sam Branch Trail is a paved trail within the Clayton community which leads to the Clayton River Walk Trail and then onto the Neuse River Trail with spans over 38 miles. The parking lot is hard-pack gravel with enough spaces for approximately 15 vehicles. In the center of the parking lot is a wooded section with three picnic tables. There are two porta-pottys off to the side. Trail use is for walking, running, cycling, and walking dogs on leash. The trail traverses through fields and wooded areas. It is primarily flat. Access from dawn to dusk.
