DE: Im Jahr 2009 wurde das Ronald McDonald Haus mit 14 Apartments in direkter Nähe zum Kölner Kinderkrankenhaus in der Amsterdamer Straße eingeweiht. Das Gebäude erinnert von außen ein wenig an eine mittelalterliche Burg und soll so den schwer kranken Kindern und ihren Eltern auch psychologisch einen kleinen Schutz vor dem Klinikalltag bieten. Neben den Apartments, die mit drei bis vier Schlafmöglichkeiten und einem Badezimmer ausgestattet sind, existiert ein Gemeinschaftsbereich mit voll ausgestatteter Küche zur Selbstversorgung, sowie ein Spiel- und Wohnzimmer.
Über eine vor dem Wetter geschützte Brücke im fünften Stockwerk der Kinderklinik können ambulant zu behandelnde Kinder mit ihren Eltern in die ebenfalls im Ronald McDonald Haus untergebrachte Oase wechseln. Dort können die Kinder (und auch die Eltern) eine Auszeit von den Behandlungen nehmen. Geöffnet ist die Oase täglich von 9 Uhr bis 17 Uhr.

EN: In 2009 the Ronald McDonald House with 14 apartments was inaugurated in the immediate vicinity of the Cologne Children's Hospital on Amsterdamer Straße. From the outside, the building is somewhat reminiscent of a medieval castle and is intended to offer the seriously ill children and their parents a little psychological protection from everyday hospital life. In addition to the apartments, which are equipped with three to four beds and a bathroom, there is a communal area with a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, as well as a playroom and living room.
Over a bridge protected from the weather on the fifth floor of the children's clinic, children to be treated on an outpatient basis can change with their parents to the oasis, which is also housed in the Ronald McDonald House. There the children (and also the parents) can take a break from the treatments. The oasis is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
