The Capitulation Monument in Vrouwenpolder contains a replica of the memorial stone from the house where the surrender of Walcheren by the German occupier to the Allies took place on 8 November 1944.

"The house was demolished in 1973 and a replica of the original memorial stone has been placed in a monument.
This memorial stone is made of white natural stone with a German eagle in relief, which is grabbed by the neck with one hand. This image symbolizes the victory over the occupying forces."

The text on the gable stone reads:
‘IN THIS HOUSE WAS ON
8 NOVEMBER 1944
LIBERATION OF THE GERMANS
COMPLETED BY THE ALLIES.”
The text on the memorial plaque reads:
‘UP TO 1973 THE HOUSE IN WHICH WAS LOCATED ON 8 NOVEMBER
1944 THE SUBMISSION OF WALCHEREN BY THE GERMAN OCCUPANTS TO
THE ALLIES TAKE PLACE. THE INSTALLED IN THIS HOUSE
MEMORIAL WAS PLACED ELSEWHERE AFTER THE DEMOLITION.
A REPLICA OF THE ORIGINAL MEMORIAL STONE IS UP
8 NOVEMBER 1994 REVEALED BY M. BROUWER-TE ROLLER EN
