The city offices and fire department are in a building named the George Fina Municipal Building. George Fina was with the OKC Fire Department for 22 years, was a famous drag racer, and served on the Piedmont City Council for 21 years, and also served as its Mayor. When he retired, this building was named in honor of him.
This is a brick veneer building with a metal roof. The entrance is on the south side of the building facing the parking lot. Additional city offices plus the police department are in another building just west of this.
Piedmont is located at the north edge of Oklahoma City, and west of Edmond. It is governed by a Mayor and a City Council with five Ward representatives. The Council meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30PM in these offices.
Piedmont land was open by auction in 1904, and with the new railroad service, the population grew. It was a market town for the surrounding agricultural areas. The railroad service stopped in 1924, but its proximity to Oklahoma City, continued its growth and many residents work in nearby OKC. Today, Piedmont is a city of about 7750 residents.
