St. John's Lutheran Church is located on the northwest corner of 4th Street and Colorado Avenue in Okarche. It is addressed as 408 Colorado Avenue. This is a red brick building in the Gothic style.
The main entrance faces 4th Street, with an eleven-step staircase with metal railings and brick sidewalls. The entrance is recessed under a covered porch with three pointed arched openings. There are four wood doors, each with overhead arches. The roof is a steep gable, with cross gables on the north and south. The windows have stained glass. On the southwest corner is a second entrance, and on the west end is a three-sided bricked bay.
The cornerstone is located on one of the brick pilasters on the 4-story bell tower which reaches high above the roof line. The cornerstone indicates that the church was organized in 1892 and the building constructed in 1921.
Little information could be obtained about church activities. They have a Facebook page which refers to their Vacation Bible School the first week of August, and a day care center/preschool they operate at another location for children 3 thru 6+. A sign off the southeast corner of the church shows Bible Study at 9:00AM and worship at 10:15AM on Sunday, plus a 6:00PM service on Saturday evening.
