Ripley is a small farming town of about 400 residents. Once a thriving farming community, first settled in 1900, it has declined until today, we saw no businesses in the downtown area. This building at 108 Morton Avenue (OK Highway 108) is a brick building which is no longer occupied. On the south side of the tall brick wall, you can barely read the words. It shows the name of the Thomas N. Berry company, an oil and gas firm headquartered in nearby Stillwater.

Beneath this company name is an ad for Coca-Cola. Originally introduced by Dr. John Stith Pemberton in 1886, it was first sold in Jacob's Pharmacy s a soda fountain drink. It wasn't until later that it became available in bottles. After first being sold in plain bottles, it wasn't until 1915 that the Contour Bottle was first adapted, to make it distinctively different. This sign is promoting drinking Coca-Cola IN BOTTLES.
