When we go along the national 540 that connects Celanova with Bande towards Portugal, it is worth stopping at the top of a mountain that separates the councils of Verea and Bande. It is called Alto do Vieiro. "Vieiro" in Galician means narrow path or path where only people or animals can pass, due to its narrow configuration and not at all firm.
This already gives us an idea of ??the existence of a road of some importance and that is that a road that linked Celanova with the Caldo valley in Lobios and with Portugal passed through here.
It is situated at a height of 850 m above sea level. We have before us a beautiful recreational area, composed of a fountain and a covered table. The most characteristic thing is the way the water falls, which seems to emanate directly from the very branches of the centennial tree that is on the mentioned source. However, it is a pipeline created for this purpose.
In addition, the old tree is no more than it was in its day a wonderful specimen that today is dry and dead. So what are the green branches that seem to emerge from its trunk? They are nothing more than lush broom strategically placed behind and a little above the old trunk, which makes it look like the tree's own branches. Even so, the set makes us powerfully draw our attention. From this point we can continue to the lands of Baixa Lima and get close to numerous destinations both in the council of Celanova and in Bande.
