Lela McDonald Headstone - Ingalls Cemetery - Ingalls, OK, US - Doves of peace on Waymarking.com

Lela McDonald's headstone is located in Ingalls Cemetery, just east of the ghost town of Ingalls. The marker is a stone pillar which is engraved "Lela, wife of F. E. McDonald." She was born November 24, 1884 and died on October 17,1910.

On a ledge at the top of the headstone is a dove sculpted out of the stone. The wing nearest the viewer has been partially broken off at some point over the last century.

[As is so often seen when reading headstones, there was often little Peace in those days. Lela lost a son at the age of 14 months and the next year, she died at the age of 25.]
