The Torekov compromise is called the political agreement reached between the Social Democrats and the bourgeois parties prior to the drafting of the 1974 form of government at the Kattegat Hotel in Torekov during the period 16-20 August 1971. The compromise was part of the constitutional work before the decision to repeal the 1809 form of government. that the Swedish monarchy existed, but at the cost of the monarch being deprived of all formal political power, for example in the formation of the government and as the highest command of the armed forces.
