Judith, frequently shortened to Judy, is a biblical name that although once very popular has steadily fallen out of favor since the 1950s.

Judy was also the surname that was borrowed for this tiny town in WV. Judy Gap lies just outside the Monongahela National Forest and has served as a familiar reference point for hikers, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts for decades. There are many recreational opportunities in the area including Seneca Rocks and Smoke Hole Caverns.
Judy Gap is also the name given to the nearby notch eroded in the sandstone ridges by Judy Run as it flows to the North Fork River. The Judy Rocks outcrop massively at this gap, and continue as a prominent rocky fin through the Germany Valley.
