DE: Die kleine Brennerei am Stauningvej 38 befindet sich am südöstlichen Ortsrand von Stauning in der Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune und stellt Whisky aus lokalem Roggen und Gerste her. Die Mälzung findet traditionell auf einem Mälzboden statt, getrocknet wird mit Torf- und Heidekrauträucherung, gebrannt wird in kleinen, direktbefeuerten kupfernen Brennblasen. Die jährliche Produktion von Rohalkohol beträgt heute bis zu 750.000 Litern. In einem kleinen, auf dem Gelände befindlichen Laden kann der produzierte Whisky flaschenweise erworben werden.
Die Führung findet nach quartalsweise wechselndem Zeitplan und gegebenenfalls nach vorheriger Absprache statt. In den Sommermonaten täglich stattfindende Führungen durch die Brennerei mit und ohne Verkostung, die zwischen 90 und 120 Minuten dauern, werden hauptsächlich in dänischer, sowie in deutscher und englischer Sprache abgehalten. Für die Tour mit Verkostung, die ein Mindestalter von 18 Jahren voraussetzt, werden 170 DKK Eintrittspreis pro Person genommen, für die Tour ohne Verkostung sind nur 100 DKK fällig - Kinder unter 16 können in Begleitung der Eltern kostenlos teilnehmen. Maximal 50 Personen dürfen an der einzelnen Führung teilnehmen, dementsprechend sollte man sich vorher im Laden, telefonisch (+45 88 44 21 22) oder per eMail (tour@stauningwhisky.dk) anmelden.
In der Führung wird in den ersten dreissig Minuten auf die Geschichte der Stauning-Brennerei und den dort gebrannten Whisky eingegangen, während dieser Phase findet auch die Verkostung ausgwählter Whiskys der Brennerei statt. Wie der Whisky dann aus dem Getreide hergestellt wird, zeigt sich während der Führung. Die einzelnen wichtigen Stationen der Whiskyherstellung (Mälzung, Trocknung, Brauvorgang und anschließende Destillation) werden detailliert vorgestellt. Man kann jederzeit Fragen stellen, die kompetent von den Tourguides beantwortet werden. Fotographieren für den nichtkommerziellen Gebrauch (z. B. Soziale Medien) ist ausdrücklich gestattet.
EN: The small distillery at Stauningvej 38 is located on the south-eastern outskirts of Stauning in Ringkøbing-Skjern municipality and produces whiskey from local rye and barley. Malting traditionally takes place on a malting floor, drying is carried out with peat and heather smoke, and small, directly-fired copper pot stills are burned. The annual production of raw alcohol is up to 750,000 liters today. The whiskey produced can be purchased by the bottle in a small shop on the premises.
The tour takes place on a quarterly changing schedule and by prior arrangement. In the summer months there are daily guided tours through the distillery with and without tasting, which last between 90 and 120 minutes, and are mainly held in Danish, as well as in German and English. For the tour with tasting, which requires a minimum age of 18, there is an entrance fee of DKK 170 per person, for the tour without tasting only DKK 100 is due - children under 16 can join for free when accompanied by their parents. In the first 30 minutes of the guided tour, the history of the Stauning distillery and the whiskey distilled is discussed, during this phase selected whiskeys from the distillery are also tasted. How the whiskey is then made from the grain will be shown during the tour. The individual important stages of whiskey production (malting, drying, brewing and subsequent distillation) are presented in detail.
