Granville was officially incorporated in 1754. In 1784, Granville was divided the town into three parishes: Granville Village, Granville Center and West Granville. In 1937 the First Congregational Church located in Granville Center merged with the Baptist Church in Granville Village, which was built in 1790, to form the Granville Federated Church. In 1960, the old Baptist and later Federated Church building in Granville Village was replaced by the current structure. The iron bell from the original Baptist Church is displayed on the grounds of the old Baptist Parsonage next to the new Granville Federated Church.
The bell is hanging from to its iron yoke and is inscribed:

TROY, N.Y.
