A huge abstract sculpture on a city street.

This sculpture is located outside the Philips building at 1600 Summer Street in Stamford, CT. It is made of metal and painted red. It is at least two stories high and consists of a red column coming out of the ground with red oval rings surrounding it. There is another hollow tube that is shorter coming from the same base.

The name and artist are unknown.

*UPDATE* This sculpture is most likely the work of artist Alexander Liberman. I found a web page that has a small-scale version of this large sculpture titled 'Thrust' and created in 1981. Here's the link to see for yourself:
