Located across the street from the Chisholm Trail Museum, the entrance fee to the museum offers entrance to the mansion also. The home was built in 1892 by Abraham Jefferson Seay. Born on Nov. 28, 1832, he served in the Union Army during the Civil War and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. After the war, he served as Associate justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court and when the Governor retired in October, 1891, he was appointed the third Territorial Governor. He served until new President Grover Cleveland appointed another governor in May of 1893. Seay stayed in Kingfisher and organized the Central State Bank.
The marker has vintage photos of the mansion when it was occupied by the Seay family. The marker reads:

THE GOVERNOR SEAY MANSION
Constructed in 1892, this house originally
belonged to Abraham Jefferson Seay, the third
territorial governor of Oklahoma. Seay sold his
home to G. H. Logan in October 1901. Mr. Logan
was the founder of Logan-Ames Co. and a
business owner in KingfisherThe house was later owned by Edwin
Hockaday and his wife Sarah, owners of Ed
Hockaday & Co., which started in Kingfisher
in 1899.
Over the years the home had many owners
and even served as a boarding house before
being purchased and preserved by the State of
Oklahoma
