"The Meeting Place" is an earthen and granite mound inspired by the Mound at Spiro, which is the most important American Indian archaeological site in Oklahoma open to the public. Surrounding the mound are 36 flagpoles, one for each of the sovereign Indian nations in Oklahoma. You might note that one flagpole is bare; the Kickapoo Tribe prohibits flags.
