DE: Die international bekannte Figur des Comic-Helden Spiderman wurde Anfang der 1960er Jahre von Stan Lee und Steve Ditko geschaffen. Im Gegensatz zu den zu der Zeit üblichen heroischen Figuren wie Superman, der Hulk oder die fantastischen Vier kommt der Student Peter Parker mit seinen Selbstzweifeln und der Tatsache, dass seine zufällig erworbene "Superkraft" hinter den anderen Comic-Helden zurückstecken muss, eher als normaler Teenager daher.
Auch die Probleme des Alltags, die er neben seiner Tätigkeit als Superheld bewältigen muss, und die Tatsache, dass Spiderman für die vollbrachten Taten keine oder kaum Anerkennung bekommt trugen stark zur Identifizierung der Jugend mit Spiderman bei. Gegenspieler hatte Spiderman eine ganze Menge, am meisten wiederkehrend waren dabei aber Doctor Octopus, der grüne Goblin und Venom.
Im Verlauf der Jahre entwickelt sich auch die Zivilfigur von Spiderman von einem schüchternen Teenager zu einem selbstbewussten High-School-Lehrer. Auch im Jahr 2021 erscheinen noch weitere Geschichten um den Helden, mehrere Verfilmungen aus den 1970er Jahren und erneut seit 2002 trugen zum Bekanntheitsgrad der Figur bei.
Die lebensgroße Figur des Spiderman aus Hartplastik klammert sich seit 2002 an den Aussenkanten des Aufzugdaches im Hürther Kinokomplex UCI im Hürth Park fest. Sie wurde zum Filmstart des Filmes "Spider-Man" dort angebracht und begrüßt so seitdem die Besucher des Kinos.
