[EN] It was at the place named « Le Riecle » that Ignace COUDEVILLE had the windmill "de la Briarde" built, now called the DESCHODT windmill. The impost bears the initials of the two carpenters, Philipe François and Ingelbertus Martin DE SMYTTERE, who built it.

In 1891, the pivot rotted and broke in strong winds. When it was repared it was moved to a position 200 meters away.

Relocated and restored, it became the property of Joseph DESCHAMPS DE PAS Joseph, and then the BEYAERT brothers, who were millers. The brothers died in battle and was abandonded until it was taken over in 1921 by Mr. Abel DESCHODT. He restored « La Briarde ».

Mr. DESCHODT died December 4, 1967, one year after having given his windmil to the Wormhout community. The municipality, helped by the Regional Association of the Friends of Windmills, undertook significant efforts to restore it. A wooden two story pivot windmill, the sails span a distance of 24 meters. Its weight is estimated at 80 tons.
