The former Cape Jaffa Lighthouse is constructed of wood and iron and built from 1868-72. It began operation in January 1872, on the Margaret Brock Reef, seven kilometres west of Cape Jaffa. The building was dismantled in 1973 from its original position at sea (replaced with an automatic light) and reconstructed on land in 1975, using mainly original materials. The steel framed lighthouse is 33m high and has an eight room house with corrugated iron cladding built within the structure 6.0m above the ground.
