Statue made by bronze, with pedestal of granite an real size. Wit the clothes and hat of this profession.

"Sculpture made by Alfonso Vilar in 1970. Important personage in the town of Sanxenxo and the first Galician aviator. José Piñeiro González born in Ferrol in 1878. The first time he saw a plane was at the Peregrina festivities (Pontevedra) in 1911. The stunts performed surprised him so much that he did not hesitate to sell his businesses and go to the French town of Pau and learn the mastery of aircraft (he was there 18 days). He came to astonish the director himself and returned to Sanxenxo. The arrival in Sanxenxo was tremendous and after the news broke to the Galician press, Sanxenxo became a center of attraction for those curious about its flights over Baltar beach. He was very famous for his "flight of the seagull" which consisted of touching the surface of the sea with the wings of the aircraft. His last exhibition was in 1921 at the Ribadavia festivities, during which he suffered an accident. Although this was not the only accident he suffered, this time his family managed to convince him to abandon the flight. After that, he fixes his residence in Sanxenxo, where he is elected mayor. A few years later, due to his son's studies, he moved to Santiago where he died in 1927."
