EN: On the main path of Cologne's southern cemetery, about 50m southwest of the entrance at Höninger Platz, there is an artfully designed, three-sided sundial about 1.4m high, on top of which a sandstone globe with a diameter of about 40cm is attached.
The flat, vertical dial shows the times between 6 a.m. (left side) and 6 p.m. (right side) with chiseled and black painted lines around the center; the times have also been chiseled into the stone at three-hour intervals. The gnomon is a triangle made of metal with a slightly curved hypotenuse, which allows the true local time to be displayed. In addition, the (albeit very, very rough) information about the location with 51° north and 7° east is on the right side of the dial and the offset of plus 32 minutes compared to CET on the left side.
The globe and the sundial were made in the stonemason's workshop Anno Walk according to an attached label.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
